Before we move into more creative territory, we ground ourselves in the classics. The bar counters of Bilbao’s Old Town are lined with pintxos that have been perfected over generations — each one a little lesson in Basque flavour. Salty, savoury, deeply satisfying. The perfect starting point before we build towards something more gourmet.

On this tour you’ll taste inventive, award-winning creations that push the form: unexpected ingredients, surprising textures, and combinations that make you stop mid-bite and say wow.
Local Drinks
Txakoli is poured from height — a deliberate theatrical pour that aerates the wine and adds a gentle sparkle. This crisp, slightly tart Basque white is the traditional companion to pintxos, and it’s just the beginning. Across five bars you’ll also taste sagardoa (Basque cider), local reds, and other regional drinks the guidebooks don’t mention.

Cooking has always been part of my life. I grew up in a family with a deep Basque culinary tradition, and my beloved grandmother taught me everything I know about our local flavours — from the simplest anchovy pintxo to the most intricate competition-winning creation.For over 10 years, I have been sharing my passion for Basque food and culture through what has become Bilbao’s most-loved food experience. Together with my amazing team, we welcome travellers from every corner of the world and introduce them to a side of this city most people never get to see.When you join this tour, you are not buying a ticket. An evening pintxo walk through Bilbao’s historic Old Town, moving from bar to bar in the authentic pintxo-pote style. You’ll taste a variety of Basque pintxos paired with local drinks while learning why food plays such a central role in everyday Basque life. Relaxed, social, and genuinely delicious.
You’ll join Irene for a bar-hopping route through the historic centre, stopping at five carefully selected bars. At each stop you’ll enjoy hand-picked pintxos and a paired drink. Some dishes are ordered directly from the kitchen — giving you access to specialties most visitors would never discover on their own.
The tour includes 8–10 pintxos and 5 drinks across five bars, designed to add up to a full and satisfying dinner. We strongly recommend arriving hungry. If you’re a big eater, you’re very welcome to order extras at any stop along the way.
A mix of classic Basque pintxos and award-winning creations from local pintxo competitions. Several dishes are prepared fresh on request and not displayed at the bar counter — insider-only bites spanning very modern pintxo bars and more traditional neighbourhood taverns.
Each pintxo is paired with a drink that complements it. Over the course of the evening you’ll sample local favourites including Txakoli (Basque sparkling white wine), red and white wines, sagardoa (Basque cider) and other regional drinks — a genuine overview of what locals actually drink.
The tour starts at 6:00 pm and lasts approximately 3 hours. The group meets in front of the KFC next to San Nicolás Church in the Old Town. The tour finishes at the last bar in Casco Viejo — perfectly placed to continue your evening or head back easily.

We’ll do our best to accommodate you, though the Basque pintxo tradition is heavily fish and seafood-based, and some restrictions may limit the full experience.
